Idaho Falls Idaho

Well, We are finally on our way home.

we are less than 1000 miles from Hesperia. Tomorrow we will move to SaltLake City. Dick is thinking about seeing if he can research some relatives. He found out some about his grand mother and grand father on his fathers side. Now he is all excited to find out more. If it is possible for hem to do some searching we will stay there a few days.

I am still trying to put some pictures in this. If they do not go then we will have to have a bore your family look at Alaska pictures on our big screen TV when we get home
The ppics posted they in the Ddmonton mall at the wave pool. It was huge

Montana good old USA

We finally got back in to the US. We almost did not make it because Sick had gotten a piece of Caraboo horn to make pens out of and they would not let us in un less he could prove that he did not kill a caraboo and take only the horn. and we were really glad that we did not buy any fruil or vegies before we came across. There were stacks of fresh corn on the ccob that was beeing taken from people crossing.

We stopped in Lewistown, Mt and visited Dicks cousins. We had a really nice visit. They were very happy to see him and we got a lot of family history. We went to the cemetary where his grandma and grandpa were burried. Also some aunts and unkles were there. Then we drove out to his unkle's farm.. The barn is still there. The old house was gone but there were a lot of memories there.

The pictures if I can get them to load are of the Edmonton Mall

Still hanging out in Edmonton

We have been to the mall 3 times and we have not been in every shop or done every thing there is to do. We spent a morning in the wave pool. That was fun. Yesterday we saw the sealion show. To day we are trying to clean the MOHO and get ready to travel on if the meds get here today. If they do not we will have to stay into next week because no week end mail delivery.

Edmonton, Alberta

We are here for a week waiting for our meds to catch up with us. While we are here we hope to eaxplore the West Edmonton Mall. There is a gigantic water park with a wave pool ( got to try that out). There are over a thousand stores. There is a skating rink , a ship, and other attractions I will be able to tell you better after we have been there.
I am going to try for some more pics of Alaska. The clouds are awsome and the water is all green and bright blue from glacier run off.

Back on line

_For a long time I have been unable to get on line with my compute-r. I finally decided that I needed a new computer with built in wireless. Now that I figured that I have a switch to turn it on I am back in business, We are back at Prince George, BC an aare on our own. It really seems strange not to be going down the road with the group. They were areally great bunch of people and we had so much fun with them
Now to try and put in a few pictures. Now that I can do it again I will try to get some more and will be able to tell you a little about them. Right now the thumbnails are so small I can't tell what they are until I can figure out how to make them bigger.

After Gold Panning

We went to Elderado Gold Mine. Every one was guaranteed to get gold or to get acertaim amount of gold. Between the two of us we got 30 dollars worth. I had them put into a pendant and ear rings. When we got done there and started back to the RV park it was raining again. I am going to a paddle wheel boat ride, Dick is going to get the oilchanged in the MO HO. In the afternoon we have free time. We will do something a surprise.

The day after Barrow

Yesterday was an awesome day. We have not flown in years. It was a great flight both ways. Flying over the Artic Ocean was amazing. Some of the water is still frozen. The Tundra is so unusual. No trees. Barrow has no trees. All of the roads are dirt. The homes are all built on stilts because the houses are warm and they sink into the permafrost. They have at least r33 insulation on all six sides. They look really junky from the out side because they have to be made of natural wood so that they water can permeate it. Other materials besides metal cannot with stand the temperatures. It was 39 there but the sun was shining and there were local kids playing in the sand with just short sleeve t shirts. I had cuddle duds under my shirt and a heavy jacket. Three from our group put on bathing suits and took a dive in the Artic to get a polars bear certificate. They did not tell us that we could do this so we did not bring suits. Really I'm glad I did not.
We are going gold panning today. I am hoping for a nugget but will probably be happy with a few flakes. We toured the city of Fairbanks today and saw the Alyeska Pipeline up close and personal. Fairbanks has a College with a museum of Alaska histor the is unbelieveable. We really enjoyed the visit there.
Well, guess I better get on my gold paning clothes. Let you know what happens

Fairbanks, AK

We arrived here today. My Birthday. It was sunny allday and it was so hot here at 10:00pm AK time thaat it felt like you could get a sunburn. The country side change on the way here. Still trees and trees but a different kind. The frost line is 2000 feet. We are not high above sea level but we are in the permafrost.
Last Thursday we toured Denli National park. We went in to the park 63 miles. We barely schatched the surface when you consider that the park is 6 milion sq miles. We saw moose caraboo, wolfs grizzley bears. We were on a bus and they were quite far from us. Some times I guess they come close to the road. You can hike it the park but you must get a permmit and have exensive training on how to avoid animal contact.
We will be flying to Barrow tomorrow. It could be 50 degrees there. We could get socked in and have to stay over night. Guess we will have t0 be suprised.
Still having rouble with the pictures. At least I am on line.
Love to all

Valdez,AK

I am haaving trouble getting my pictures on the blog again. I may have too many pics on the computer and not enough memory to up load them. To day we cruised Prince william sound for 110 miles. We went to The Colombia glacier and the Mears glacier. We really got up close and personel with the Mears. We saw all kinds of wild life and among them several hump back whales and puffin birds. They fed us 2 meals on the trip. I was very lucky, the water was like glass. I have lots of pics. Maybe i can get them on the blog next time. We have a free day here tomorrow then head toward Ankorage. When we get there I will be able to get on line again.
Besides the Exon Valdez oil spill this area experienced an earth quake 9.2. We had tour guide who was living here then 1964 she was 12 years and still has vivid memories of the quake. Her family have lived here since the 1920s. When the devries was cleared up they burned the town down because it was a dangerous area to rebuild in. The built the current town 2 miles down the road.
Our RVs are parked on the waters edge. The fireboats did a parade spraying water for about 10 mminutes they said something about fireworks at 11 pm. It is 20 to 10 and it is still day light. Some one said that they save the fire works for New years because it gets dark then.
I wont bore you with any more stuff for now.
will try for pics next time

I never know where the pics will show up on the page and it always moves my writing around.

You can drive every street in this town in ten minutes.Pics are along the way. There is so much uninhabited land up here We have seen some wild animals. Thwew is a place at Watson Lake called the sign forrest. It is a tradition to put up a sign when you go through so friends who come later can see it. I am standing under the Hesperia sign

Dawson City, Yukon Territory

We arrived at DC today and are scheduled to go to dinner at the Triple J then on to Diamond Tooth Gertie's for the Follies. We went to the Frantic Folly's in Whitehorse. It was a lot of fun. I had a camera in my pocket and it got broken before we got there. I could not take and pictures of the Dancing girls. Luckily we had the other camera that served us faithfully on our trip to the east. I am still taking pictures. It is hot here. The first time I have had on shorts in about 3 weeks. We stayed in a dry camp last night but it was beautiful right be side a river. There was a Kayak race from Whitehorse to Dawson City going on and some of the group saw the people paddling by.
We will be here for 2 nights and so hope I can add a little more. If I dont think about us because we will be goinag over a garvel road for 40 miles on Sunday.

Mom Sent this to Me Just sending it on....

Hi, I finally got on to the Internet and I cannot log on to the blog. Would you post a not that as soon as I can get on to the blog that I will send a detailed up date. We are also out of range of cell phone service. They use cell phones around here but we keep getting no service. We are at White horse right now and will leave tomorrow for Minto then on to Dawson City. We have had rain every day since we have been in Canada. I have lots of pictures but they are mostly of trees and road. There is so much unoccupied land up here it is unbelievable. We are with a great bunch of people and the Host and the Tailenders are Christians. Pray before group meals and They pray for our safe travel. Guess you will have to send a regular E-mail if there is any problem. You have the phone# of the parks and you could leave us a message.
One of our jack springs broke and we called to have it overnighted to us. Then we find out that over night is at least 5 days in the Yukon. O well, It could be worse.
As soon as I can I will get the blog going
Love Mom

The Great Adventure begins

Tomorrow the great trip starts. It has been raining so much that
we are getting out the rain coats and boots.
We are in Dawson Creek , the Alaskan Highway starts here. We hope that It clears enough to get our Picture with RC Mountie. They have certain times of days if you go to the Mile "O" marker and the Mountie will be there for photo ops.
I took a walk last night from 8:00 to 9:00 and it was light enough to take some pics. I'll try to send some of them next session.
The whole group has gotten here and we will all go out to dinner tonight, get all the instructions and be ready to take off in the morning. Every one says the roads are good but they also say narrow and curvy. I hope that I don' t have to keep my eyes shut the entire trip.
Today is supposed to e the longest day of the year, so hope the clouds will not blocck us from seeing the sun at midnight.
I hope that you are checking this. I don't think that there is a way to see hoe many hits I get.
Well guess I better get to work packing up the MOho

Chetwynd BC

I had a little trouble with my internet connection at the last Place,Prince George. I did not bring any pictures up because I was not sure what would happen. The town where we are now is the chainsaw carving capital of the world. I took several pictures of the carvings. I will have a few in the blog next time. We will be here until Tuesday then we will move on to Dawson Creek. The great adventure starts on Thursday when the rest of our tour arrive.
I can picture the gold miners in a caravan headed for Alaska, That is how the motorhomes, fifthwheels, Etc are trooping up canada 97 to Dawson and the start of the Alaska Highway.
We hare having another downpour. The drops are huge and lots of them. I told Dick that if we had another shower like this one to come and get me. I had to bring my computer up to the laundry to get he internet. The signal is not strong enough to reach our moho. I will sign off for now and get the pictures ready for the next episode. Good night and stay dry

RAIN,RAin,rain

Wish I could send some on to you guys. When the sun comes out it is really sunny. Then all of a sudden you hear this noise and you better run for cover.
After church we came home and started the get ready to move process. I did laundry to day while the stuff was washing and drying,I walked 2 miles around the wash house. I has a overhang that kept me from getting soaked when one of the showers came by. We will move to Prince George, about 75 miles up the road.
To all my grand sons I want you to be glad that you only have to scoop dog poop. At this RV Park they have Geese and ducks, the poop problem is bucketsfull daily. Ugh!
Good night for now.

Trip to Barkerville

This is a national historic town here and the kids take field trips to learn the history of BC.This town was a gold rush town and had a chinese section. It was cold up there and in a couple of spots of snow. Lucky for us that we had plenty of clothing on. I will include a few of the pictures. There was so much to see there.
It is 9 O clock here and it is still so bright out side that I could take a walk around the camp. The days are so long up here and by June 21 there will be 24 hours of day light. That should be different. More next time

Chilliwack

We are still at Chilliwack, BC, Canada. We plan to move on tomorrow . It has been raining all day here and I am praying for a few hours od no rain so that we can get hooked up with out getting soaked. I don't know if you get the news down there but the rivers up here are at flood stage. We went to Hell's Gate yesterday and road a tram across the Fraser River it is 190 ft above its normal height and rising. Prince George which is north of us is flooded currently and the towns down this way are getting ready. That little white spot on the left side of the first picture under the bridge is where the last major flood reached and they are experting it to at least reach that mark again.
